Jondi Whitis and Deborah D Miller, Ph.D. are completing an emotional first-aid trauma relief book and course to gently help children quickly release the emotional and physical after-effects of the almost daily traumas occurring in the world today.
The book is meant for anyone, whether parent, teacher, professional or caring adult. It is a practical collection of simple, easy-to-use techniques to calm, balance, regulate and release the effects of challenging and traumatic events. Our primary goal is to help prevent challenging events from becoming traumatic events. We teach useful strategies and interventions to support you and others through challenges, and speed recovery, quickly and gently.
Our position is that we can all help children avoid common after-effects from troubling Life events, and by doing so, ensure they live healthier, happier lives.
Troubling times typically cause us to react with a fight/flight/freeze reaction, whether ‘Big’ and ‘Little’ T’ traumatic events, such as:
● Natural Disasters (earthquake, flood, tornado, fire, freak accidents)
● Man-made Disasters (car crashes, war, shootings, attacks, immigration/refugee situations, crimes, addictions)
● Family Disruptions (incarceration, drugs/addictions, abuse, removal from home, loss/separation/divorce)
● Medical Issues/Situations (diagnosis, illness, treatment, death)
● Unsettling events at home, work or school that can cause lasting emotional wounds, like bullying, targeting or aggression
All of these commonly create a ‘threat response,’ which is a way of saying that the situation has triggered the body’s natural reactions to perceived or very real threats to our well-being or survival. In this book we teach simple strategies and intervention techniques that incorporate breathing, grounding, and nervous system regulation. Together with helpful information about our human design under stress, the approaches we offer help anyone develop a basic understanding and plan of action for helping children through times of trouble.
We have divided this Book into three basic, practical parts:
1. How To Help Yourself
2. How to Help Children
3. How to Teach Others to Help Children
Your support will help bring this book and course to the public at large and especially to those who will help children desperately in need of emotional support and self-regulation skills. Many children are lost due to traumatic events and their unresolved after-effects. We’re on a mission to give everyone better ways to deal with emotional trauma, to avoid the creation of life-long emotional issues in ourselves and from passing these traumas on to another generation.

● Desastres naturales (terremotos, inundaciones, tornados, incendios, accidentes extraños)
1. Cómo ayudarte a ti mismo
2. Cómo ayudar a los niños
